DIY-Friendly Coffered Ceiling
A coffered ceiling normally calls for expensive tools and advanced carpentry skill, but we designed this project to be DIY-friendly.
The installation features a simple 2×4 framework with miter-free joinery and medium density fiberboard (MDF) for the visible finished material over the framework. MDF is inexpensive, readily available at home centers, and smooth and easy to work with.

Dark and Moody Coffered Ceiling
Paneled walls, built-in cabinetry and coffered ceiling are the type of elegant details that make this bedroom from @seaislandbuilders truly luxurious. But, of course, we have to talk about that color!
Dark blue on the walls and ceiling can make a room feel cramped. But here, thanks to the high sheen and architectural details, light bounces around the room, making the space feel cozy and opulent.

DIY Stained Coffered Ceiling
To create the dark stained beams in this DIY coffered ceiling, @champagne.chaos used 1×6 boards, 1×2 boards and crown molding. Applying the stain before installing the wood made for easier application. The finished look is classic and sophisticated, with a high-end design no one would guess was a DIY project.
